Important Notice from Nepal Bankers Association

Important Notice from Nepal Bankers Association (2076-12-12):

Nepal Bankers' Association held an online meeting this morning (25th March 2020) and decided the following:

In view of the Government's announcement to lockdown the nation to fight with the ongoing pandemic, the entire banking fraternity is fully committed towards it.

We also feel that, during this difficult hour, the general public needs to be assured that their hard-earned money is safe at the bank and if required, they are free to withdraw it.

Taking all into consideration, we have decided the following to be carried out in coordination with the local authorities —

  • All the ATMs to be refilled regularly to ensure there is no shortage of cash for withdrawal
  • Promote digital banking and provide support to customers (over telephone/email) to resolve their queries
  • Branches to display the contact person of two officials. They can be reached out in case of emergency or urgent matter
  • Branches which have ATM, need not be opened as customers who approach bank are only looking to withdraw cash
  • Branches without ATM, to be opened for a few hours
  • For any other urgent services such as LC, Guarantee, Treasury, etc to import essential items, the customer to contact concerned bank branch directly so that the service could be provided

The local authorities to assist in delivering the necessary health and safety items such as masks and sanitizers for staff, supplies to sanitize ATM booths, etc to be delivered at

The health and safety of the customers and staffs is our primary concern. Let's be united and support the Government to deal with this difficult situation.
