Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City Implement Local Text Books for Up to Class 8

Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City is going to implement local textbooks from the current academic session to class 8 by covering the geographical conditions of its area, the resident castes, their language, religion, culture, festivals, economic, social and political conditions, and historical importance.

The sub-metropolitan municipality has decided to implement 'Hamro Hetauda' according to the local curriculum in all community and institutional schools within the city from the current academic session up to class 8. Earlier, local textbooks were implemented up to class 3.

Savin Neupane, spokesperson of Hetauda sub-metropolitan city and chairman of ward No. 1, informed that the 43rd executive meeting of the sub-metropolitan city has decided to implement the book 'Hamro Hetauda' based on the local curriculum in all community and institutional schools in the city from the current academic session up to class 8.

There is a provision that the local authorities can prepare and implement the curriculum using the powers given by the Constitution of Nepal and the Local Government Act. Accordingly, eight out of 10 municipalities of Makwanpur have already introduced local textbooks. Among the municipalities that are using local textbooks are Bagmati, Makwanpurgarhi, Bhimfedi, Indrasarovar, Thaha Municipality, Manhari and Raksirang Rural Municipality along with Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan Municipality.

In the Local Government Operation Act 2074, Section 11, J (4) of the schools providing education in the mother tongue, the local curriculum can be implemented by making provision for permission, monitoring and regulation, the municipalities of Makwanpur have introduced local textbooks in their schools.
