Gyanjyoti Basic School in Kalikot district, Nepal Faces Severe Infrastructural Challenges
Gyanjyoti Basic School of Shannitriveni rural municipality-8 in Kalikot district, Nepal, faces severe infrastructural challenges that affect the quality of education it provides to its 220 students.
No Desks or Benches:
Students are forced to sit on the cold floor to study, with no desks or benches available to them. The dusty and windy environment makes it even more difficult for them to concentrate on their studies.
No Playgrounds, Toilets, or Classrooms:
The school has no playgrounds or toilets, and some students are even taught in the open square or on the ground due to a lack of classrooms.
Leaders and Government Fail to Act:
People's representatives and leaders of opposition parties have not taken action to improve the school's infrastructural challenges, despite complaints from the school administration and locals. The budget allocated for the school has not been sufficient to meet its needs, and promises of construction have not been fulfilled.
Temporary Solutions Ignored:
Locals complain that the government has become a mute audience without even temporary management forcing children to study in the dust for more than seven months. The school administration and locals did not think of creating a temporary classroom for the time being.
Shortage of Desks and Benches:
The education branch of Shannitriveni rural municipality has monitored all the schools in the municipality, and it is evident that there is a shortage of buildings, desks, benches, playgrounds, and toilets.
Despite the challenges, the school continues to offer education from Kindergarten to 8th standard to its students. The villagers hope that the government and leaders will take swift action to address the school's infrastructural challenges and ensure a better future for the students.
