The government has approved the tenth amendment of the Nepal Police Regulations. At the same time, the way is open to promote more than 20,000 lower-level police.

The cabinet meeting held on Sunday approved the tenth amendment of the police regulations, said Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications.

The government had added senior SI, senior constable, and assistant constable posts in Nepal Police to boost morale. But according to the rules, a one-year performance appraisal was required to be promoted to this post. In other words, it is not possible to promote at least the added posts. To address this, the government has decided to amend the police regulations.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the new posts are being promoted on the basis of seniority for once. According to the new regulations, more than 20,000 lower-level police will be promoted at once.
