Government Fixed the Minimum Wages Rate Monthly Rs.15000:

On the occasion of the 132nd International Workers' Day, the government has fixed the minimum wage at Rs 15,000. Earlier, the minimum wage in the Nepali labor market was Rs 13,450.

On the occasion of Labor Day, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced an increase in the basic wage of the workers and said that now not only the monthly workers but also the daily and hourly workers would get the minimum wage as per the increased scale.

According to him, a daily wage worker will get Rs. 577 from now on. Similarly, they will get a minimum of Rs 77 as they are currently working at Rs 69 per hour.

However, the government has stated that the increased wages will be implemented only from the coming fiscal year 2078/89.

Prime Minister Oli said that the government had to intervene after there was no consensus for a long time even though the remuneration should be between the representatives of the workers and the employers.
