Government Fixed New Minimum Wages Rate of Labour in Nepal:

Notice from the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security: The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Government of Nepal, using the right given by Sub-section (3) of Section 106 of the Envelope Act, 2074 BS, with effect from 1st Shrawan 2078 BS, has fixed the following minimum wage for non-tea plantation workers. The information has been published:

(1) In addition to the above wages, facilities such as provident fund and allowance to be provided to the workers in accordance with the Labor Act, 2074, Contribution Based Social Security Act, 2074, and prevailing law shall be provided.

(2) In accordance with Article 13 of the Local Government Operation Act, 2074, the local level or other bodies have been given the right to determine the minimum wage in accordance with the law of Nepal; Such level or body may determine the remuneration not less than specified in this notice.

(3) No employment agreement may be entered into with a wage less than the minimum wage mentioned.

(4) Section (a) under the notice of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security published in the Nepal Gazette Part 5 of Section 68, No. 20 dated 2075-4-31 has been repealed.
