Government Established Labor Information Bank:

The Labor Information Bank has come into operation on Sunday with the objective of providing employment by keeping accurate information of workers and employers. Minister for Labor Rameshwar Rai Yadav inaugurated the Labor Information Bank through a virtual program organized by the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security.

Minister Yadav said that the objective of the bank was to collect the details of the unemployed youth, provide necessary training to them and help them to find employment as per the needs of the employers. He also said that it would be easy to connect the workers and the employers as the bank would be aware of the work and opportunities in the market along with the workers and employers.

According to the Ministry; Through the Labor Information Bank, the information will be received in an integrated manner about the number of people who can earn labor in agriculture, industry, hotels, etc., what kind of knowledge and skills have been acquired, in which areas how many people are working in the country and how many are in foreign employment.

It is said that the details of the workers who want to be involved in different sectors, professions or businesses of the country or currently working and the updated details of the skills and qualifications of the manpower who have gone or returned for foreign employment will also be included.

The Ministry aims to strengthen the employment management information system in 753 local level government by collecting and updating the details of skilled manpower in the region and will be useful to the public and private sector.

Last week; The task force formed to study the Labor Bank and Labor Bank had submitted a report to the Labor Minister. In the report prepared by the task force, the information, skills, competencies, and experience of the labor force entering the labor market were accounted for in the Labor Information Bank; It was suggested to establish a bank with detailed information related to the field of labor and employment by linking the essential details of employment or self-employment in which sector.

The report notes that the sector needs to be brought under the ambit of contribution-based social security in order to sustain workers employed in the formal and informal sectors, including agriculture, construction, and the service sector.

Unemployed people have to go to the workers' information bank online and register all their details. Provision has been made for the employers to publish the advertisement of employment in their respective industrial establishments. The arrangement has been made for the unemployed to apply by looking at the advertisements placed by the employers.

Meanwhile, Labor Minister Yadav also unveiled a report on the achievements made by the Ministry of Labor in the last fiscal year and the action plan to be taken in the current fiscal year. He informed, there is a plan to develop 'detect' technology to know the condition of Nepali workers abroad. The Ministry has stated that it will develop detection technology in the current Fiscal Year 2077/078 BS to be sure about the whereabouts of Nepali workers in foreign employment.

Minister for Labor Yadav informed that the internet would be provided to the family of the person in foreign employment to keep them connected with their family. Due to this, the workers should not feel lonely abroad and should also suffer from depression while having regular contact with their families, said Minister Yadav. It was also informed that the procedure for sending to Japan and Korea through the GTG system will be modified and the procedure for sending to Israel through the same system will be formulated.
