Government Employees Salary Increased by Rs 2000 Per Month: The Nepal government has increased the monthly salary of civil servants by Rs 2,000. Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel informed that the salary has been increased by Rs 2,000 with effect from Shrawan 1 to increase the morale of the civil servants even though it is not possible to increase the salary due to rising expenses in the management of Corona-19.
The current dearness allowance given in the budget of the Fiscal Year 2078/79 brought through the ordinance has been retained.
Earlier, the salary of government employees was increased in the fiscal year 2076/77. In the same year, it was announced to increase the salary of Deputy Subba by 20 percent and above by 18 percent. The workers' union was pressuring the government to adjust the salary allowance in a timely manner.
The Finance Minister has also said that a 'pay commission' will be formed to submit suggestions on salaries and other services of civil servants.
The government will bear the premium of Rs 1 million for group accident insurance and Rs 1 lakh for health insurance. The Finance Minister also said that collective housing would be constructed in the state from the Employees Provident Fund and Citizens Investment Fund to provide housing services to the civil servants at concessional rates.
The budget also mentions that 50 percent of the social security tax paid by the civil servants will be paid for the infrastructure of the civil hospital and a hospital bed will be provided for the civil servants in the hospital and dedicated services will be started.
The Finance Minister said that the government schools will be run and the existing schools will be upgraded to provide quality education to the children of the civil servants.
The government has decided to give tourism leave to the employees. Finance Minister Poudel has announced a round trip. Now, government employees will get 10 days' leave per year under tourism leave.
