The Nepal Government has requested local authorities to declare a three-day school holiday from Sunday, 2081 Ashoj 13, to Tuesday, 2081 Ashoj 15.
Due to the continuous rainfall since Friday, 2081 Ashoj 11, school buildings have sustained damage, students and parents have been affected by floods and landslides, and transportation has been disrupted. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology stated that these were the reasons for asking local governments to announce the school holiday.
On Saturday, 2081 Ashoj 12, an emergency disaster meeting chaired by Acting Prime Minister Prakashman Singh decided to postpone exams for all educational institutions, including universities, until further notice. The exams will be held at an appropriate time after assessing the situation.
According to Ministry Spokesperson Laxmi Prasad Bhattarai, the local authorities were requested to close schools for three days due to the need for emergency management of school infrastructure.
