The government of Nepal has canceled the weekly leave given on Sunday. The cabinet meeting held on Monday has decided to cancel the leave on Sunday. Earlier, the government had decided to grant leave on Saturday and Sunday. The two-day leave was met with administrative difficulties and the government was widely criticized for overcrowding hospitals.
Stakeholders have been pushing for a reduction in Sunday's leave due to complications in the implementation of the two-day dispute in Nepal. Accordingly, it has been decided to cancel the leave on Sunday, said a minister.
2079 Ashad 1 will no longer be a Sunday holiday. The weekend will be on Saturday only. The cabinet meeting on 26th Baishakh 2079 had decided to give leave on Saturday and Sunday of the week to reduce fuel consumption. The decision came into effect on Jestha 1, 2079.
