Government and Alumni Unite to Elevate Shanker Dev Campus into a Management University
Kathmandu, September 18, 2023 - In a landmark decision set to revolutionize higher education in Nepal, government officials and prominent alumni have thrown their weight behind Shanker Dev Campus, promising substantial support for its transformation into a management university.
Key Stakeholders Make Pledge
Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Dhanraj Gurung, emphasized his commitment to the campus during the opening session of the third general assembly and convention of the Shanker Dev Campus Alumni Association. He also fully backed the initiatives set forth by MP Dipendra Shrestha, who pledged that the provincial government would provide land and crucial infrastructure support.
Former Officials & Alumni Voice Support
Leelamani Paudel, former Chief Secretary, championed the idea of elevating the Shanker Dev Campus into a pioneer autonomous college focused on management studies. As an alumnus himself, Paudel is closely aligned with the college's vision and alumni activities.
Shubram Basnet, another distinguished alumnus and former president of Shanker Dev Campus Free Student Union (FSU), highlighted the institute's technological achievements. Under the leadership of Rajiv Vikram Thapa, the campus successfully implemented online teaching and internship programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
General Assembly Outcomes
The closed session featured an extensive review of reports and accounts, including a president's report presented by Rajiv Vikram Thapa and a treasurer's report submitted by Kanhaiya Bhakta Rajbhandari. A constitutional amendment was also unanimously approved.
New Leadership Team Elected
The general assembly culminated in the unopposed election of a new working committee led by Rajiv Kumar Thapa as the president. Other key elected members included:
- Kanhaiya Bhakta Rajbhandari, Secretary
- Anjana Aryal, Treasurer
Several other members were also elected unopposed, as confirmed by Dr. Sajiv Kumar Shrestha, the election committee coordinator.
