Gaurishankar Rural Municipality in Dolakha District has taken a giant leap in empowering its youth by offering scholarships for technical subjects. Under their well-thought-out educational scholarship program, a sum of 19.5 lakh rupees was disbursed, benefitting 52 students. This initiative, spearheaded by Rural Municipal Chairman Biswas Karki, aims to generate technical manpower within the community.

- MBB Ayurveda Graduates: 2 lakh rupees per student
- Civil Engineering Graduates: 1 lakh rupees per student
- Dental Science Graduates: 50,000 rupees
- Forestry Graduates: 50,000 rupees
- BSc Ag and BSc Nursing Graduates: 50,000 rupees per student
- Civil Engineer Diploma: 25,000 rupees for five students
- Diploma in Agriculture (Plant Science): 25,000 rupees for eight students
- Diploma in Animal Science (Veterinary): 25,000 rupees per student
- PCL Nursing: 25,000 rupees per student
- HA: 25,000 rupees per student
- CMLT: 25,000 rupees for one student
- Diploma in Computer Engineeing: 20,000 rupees for 25 students
A Step Towards Equality
Chairman Biswas Karki expressed his belief that education should not be a privilege limited by financial constraints. By providing scholarships, the rural municipality is ensuring that neither poor nor wealthy students miss out on educational opportunities due to economic factors.

Karki also pointed out the geographical issues the municipality faces. He stated that technical professionals often hesitate to serve in the area due to its remote location. However, by educating the local youth in these fields, the municipality is investing in its future, hoping that these students, who have an emotional connection with their hometown, will choose to contribute back to the community.
Transparency in Scholarship Allocation
The application process began in Baishakh 2080 with an official notice, inviting applications for the scholarships. Unlike in previous years, when only economically disadvantaged and meritorious students were awarded, this year the scholarship was extended to all the 52 students who applied.
