Gandaki Won Tiger Cup National Club Volleyball Championship:
Gandaki has won the Tiger Cup Invited National Club Volleyball Championship. Gandaki defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 3-2 in a thrilling final on the volleyball court of Pokhara Stadium on Saturday.
Gandaki took the lead by winning the first set 25-22. Army won the second set 25-21. In the competitive third set, Gandaki took the lead by winning the tiebreak. In the fourth set, Army won 25-23 and drew. Gandaki won the fifth and final set 15-11. In the league stage of the four-team competition, Gandaki defeated APF and Army and lost to Nepal Police.
Before that, the women's side defeated APF in a straight-set to become the Police Champion. Police defeated APF 25-22, 25-22, 25-21 in the departmental derby.
Police also defeated APF in the first league match of the four-team tournament. Police and APUF reached the final in the top two after the league stage.
The winning men's and women's teams of the competition organized by Tiger Group of Pokhara have received the same amount of Rs 150,000. Similarly, the runner-up got Rs 75,000 and the third place got Rs 35,000 in cash.
Ghanshyam Chaudhary of Gandaki was declared the best male player in the Tiger Cup Invited National Club Volleyball Championship. On the women's side, Usha Bhandari of Nepal Police has declared the best player.
Chaudhary and Bhandari, who became the best, received trophies, medals, and certificates worth Rs 20,000 each. Similarly, Army's Dhan Bahadur Bhatt, Army's Hari Adhikari, and Army's Refugee Area were selected as the best spikers for the men's departmental award. Sujan Chokhal of Gandaki became the best setter and Rajan Darlami Magar of Gandaki became the best defender while Ramesh KC of Gandaki became the best coach.
Saraswati Chaudhary of APF was selected as the best spokesperson on the women's side. Hira KC of APF won the title of best blocker. Pratibha Mali of New Diamond was declared the best server and Shantikala Tamang of Nepal Police was declared the best defender. Nitesh Bista of Nepal Police became the best coach.
