Former Teachers Support Saraswati Basic School in Myagdi with Financial Assistance
Saraswati Basic School, situated in Dana Kavre, Annapurna Rural Municipality-3, Myagdi, has received financial support from two former teachers who taught at the school on the border of Mustang before joining the British Army. The school, which has 50 students, will use the funds to pay the salaries of its teachers from its private resources.
Contributions from the Purja Family
Ganga Bahadur Purja and his wife Yomaya Purja, along with Ganga Bahadur's brother Kamal Bahadur Purja and his wife Shanti Purja, have contributed to the school's financial assistance. The Purja family, who came to Nepal during the holidays, handed over a total of Rs 1 lakh 51 thousand one hundred and five rupees to the school management committee, teachers, and parents.
Support from Physically Challenged Purja
Despite being physically challenged, Purja has also provided money from his British government pension for the salary of teachers in various schools in the district. Purja, who joined the Gurkha army in 1989 and retired in 2006 due to a back problem, walks with the help of a Baisakhi sahara. He has also established an organization called Help Group, which supports Nepalese migrants in the UK. The group has even received the prestigious 'Queen Award' from the British government.
The Financial support from former teachers like the Purja family can go a long way in improving the quality of education in rural areas of Nepal. Such acts of generosity are truly commendable and deserve recognition. The contribution made by the Purja family will help ensure that the students at Saraswati Basic School receive the education they deserve, and the teachers are paid their salaries on time.
