Far Western University to Publish Folk Tales of Far Western Nepal

Far-Western University, located in the Far West region of Nepal, has announced its plan to collect and publish the folk tales of the region. The university aims to preserve and advance the language, culture, and literature of the area through this initiative. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Ammaraj Joshi, emphasized that the collection of folklore will be accompanied by research in other fields of culture and language to improve the region.

The Director of Far-Western University's Center for Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Dr. Harishchandra Bhatt, stated that the university is currently in the process of collecting and publishing folk tales of Souka, Bhote, Raute, Magar, and Ranatharu in both local and Nepali languages. He also confirmed that the university will publish the folklore of all nine districts of the region, including Darchula, Bajhang, Baitadi, and Bajura.

Dr. Bhatt further elaborated that the folk tales convey a message about the religious beliefs, customs, and traditions of the people from yesterday. He also revealed that the university is planning to study the archeology of the Far West region.

Renowned literary writer, Hembabu, commended the university's initiative, stating that folklore provides insight into the local lifestyle, customs, festivals, and traditions of the people. Far-Western University has established the Language, Literature and Culture Study Center to intensify the study and research of language and culture in the region.

The collection and publication of folk tales by Far-Western University will contribute to the preservation and promotion of the unique culture and literature of the Far West region of Nepal, and provide valuable insights into the history and traditions of the area.
