Mass communication experts and professors have stressed the need for policy reforms to include the subject of inclusion in university curricula.
At an interaction on 'Inclusion in Journalism Education of the University organized by Jagran Media Center on Monday, he said that the subject matter of inclusion should be included along with policy reform by studying/researching the curriculum of the university where journalism is being studied.
Chief of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Tribhuvan University, Chiranjeevi Khanal, said that the inclusion of some subjects in the curriculum on journalism at Tribhuvan University was not enough. He said that the curriculum could include inclusive subjects on the basis of research and discussion.
Dr. Suresh Acharya, Chairman of the Journalism Thematic Committee, Purbanchal University, said that inclusive topics related to journalism of Purbanchal University could be included but for that, research and basis is needed.
Sudhanshu Dahal, Head of the Department of Media and Language Studies, Kathmandu University, stressed the need for physical participation of the marginalized community in the mass media.
Bikash Dhakal, Coordinator, Department of Journalism, Open University, Aviral Thapa, Principal, Polygon College, and Bhawanishwar Gautam, Professor, Madan Bhandari College, stressed the need to include inclusive subjects in the curriculum in a timely manner.
Researcher JV Bishwakarma said that journalism is a tool of social reform and added that the curriculum on journalism should be made inclusive. Jagran chairperson Kamala Bishwakarma said that the mass media should be inclusive in terms of content and participation.
