The examinees have demanded to conduct the examination of the customs agent immediately. The customs department had opened 660 customs agents through public service on Chaitra 16, 2077 BS. Candidates have staged a sit-in at Tripureshwor today saying that the examination has not been held yet.
Bholanath Aryal, a candidate for the examination, said that the customs department had tried to stop the examination by making various excuses. "We have been forced to come to the streets as we have not been able to move forward despite repeated requests to move ahead with the examination program immediately," said Aryal.
He said that it was unfortunate that the examination of the customs agent could not be held even though other examinations of the Public Service Commission, which were stopped due to corona, had started. More than 9,000 candidates have applied for 660 posts of customs agents.
Punya Bikram Khadka, information officer of the department, said that the department has already included the examination program in its annual action plan and will conduct the examination soon. "There has been some delay in conducting the examination due to corona in the beginning and lack of center for public service examination in recent times," he said.
He said that the department has already started internal preparations for the examination of the customs agent and now the examination will be held soon.
