Everest English School in Bhaktapur, Nepal recently made a generous donation of books to establish libraries in three remote schools located in Sindhupalchok, Makwanpur, and Chitwan districts. The funds were collected from the students on the occasion of their birthdays, instead of being spent on chocolates and cakes. Every year, the school transfers the money collected to government schools in remote areas to support the establishment of libraries. So far, the school has provided books to 24 schools in 23 districts.
On the school's 40th anniversary, the books were handed over to the three schools in the presence of Narayanaman Vijukchen, the president of Nepal Workers Peasants Party. The books were received by the principals of Diwakar Smriti Secondary School Chitwan, Bhimeshwar Secondary School Sindhupalchok, and Janhit Basic School Makwanpur.
The school's principal, Bhakta Raj Bhandari, spoke about the importance of education and how the school has been contributing to the education sector. The program was attended by several special guests, including Rajni Joshi, the deputy chief of Bhaktapur Municipality, Pradeep Kumar Rai (Vyakul Maila), the composer of the national anthem, and other dignitaries. Two students who performed exceptionally well in their last SEE examination were also awarded cash prizes. The event was an opportunity for the school management committee, parents, and other guests to discuss various issues related to the school and education sector.
