Encouraging Higher Education among Daughters of Chandranagar: A Progressive Initiative against Child Marriage

In a commendable effort to combat child marriage and promote higher education for girls, the Chandranagar Rural Municipality of Sarlahi has taken a remarkable initiative. Seventy-five girls from the area have been provided with monetary incentives, demonstrating a proactive commitment to social change.

  • Championing Girl Education: Spearheaded by Rajkumar Mahato, chairman of the Chandranagar village council, this initiative bestows an incentive grant to girls from the rural municipality who have successfully passed class 12 and are currently pursuing graduation. Each student receives a grant of 11,000 per person, signifying a notable investment in their educational future.

  • A Celebratory Event: The grant distribution program was graced by the presence of Mahesh Prasad Yadav, the Minister of Education and Social Welfare of the Government of Madhesh Province. Held at the picturesque Nadhiman Lake, the event was not just a ceremony, but a celebration of progress and empowerment.

  • The Underlying Objective: The main thrust of this initiative, as stated by Chairman Mahato, is to empower girls and align with the larger campaign to end child marriage. This is part of a special program being undertaken by the Chandranagar Rural Municipality, which focuses on bolstering girls' access to higher education.

This initiative stands as a testimony to Chandranagar Rural Municipality's dedicated efforts in promoting girl education and combating child marriage. By encouraging academic achievement and providing financial support, this initiative paints a brighter future for the daughters of Chandranagar, paving the way for their empowerment and societal contribution.
