Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi has said that importance will be given to science education from the school level. Speaking at a program organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology on the occasion of the Ninth National Science Day, Chief Secretary Bairagi said that prosperity would be achieved through science if every level could give priority to science education.
Secretary at the Ministry of Education Ram Prasad Thapaliya stressed the need to expand access to science. Secretary for Science Suresh Acharya, while promoting science diplomacy, pointed out the need to take initiative to bring foreign investment and knowledge in this field. Former Science Minister Ganesh Sah said that the interrelationship between science and every field should be expanded.
This day is celebrated today with the motto of 'Advanced Development of Science and Technology: Easy Exit from Outbreaks and Epidemics'. On the occasion of the day, it was announced that the Science Journalism Award of Rs. 25,000 would be given to Mani Dahal of Kantipur Daily. Awards have also been announced in the categories of Aeronautical Technology, Space Technology, Emerging Technology, Disaster Reduction Technology, and Biotechnology.
The main function committee has been formed under the coordination of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also in charge of the Ministry of Education. The day of establishment of the Amrit Science Campus in Nepal is being celebrated as per the decision of the Government of Nepal dated November 23, 2012. A week-long program is being celebrated on the occasion of the day.
