Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha Inspected Durbar High School:

Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Krishna Gopal Shrestha has inspected the Durbar High School, which was damaged by the 2072 BS earthquake.

Chief Executive Officer of the National Reconstruction Authority Sushil Gyawali and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi also participated in the inspection program organized on the occasion of Chinese New Year on Friday.

On the occasion, they handed over educational, health, and sports materials to the students studying in the school. Durbar High School, which was destroyed by the earthquake, received Rs. Reconstruction was completed with a grant of Rs. 850 million, said Ram Sharan Sapkota, project director of the Central Project Implementation Unit.

Sapkota, the true project director of the newly constructed school, handed it over to Vidya Sundar Shakya, chief of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on November 19 on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony. The four-story school building has 42 rooms. The building also has fire fighting, security, library, and laboratory facilities. Two schools including Bhanu and Sanskrit Secondary School are operating in the building.

The school was established in 1910 BS at Thapathali Durbar to teach Durbaria and was shifted to Ranipokhari. The Sanskrit Secondary School has also come into operation here since 1948 BS.

Students living in Tindhara Sanskrit Pathshala have been studying in the school. Durbar High School has been renamed Bhanu Secondary School since 2024 BS.
