Driving License Test may Resume only after Two Months:

The new driver's license will not be opened for another two months. Discussions have moved ahead with the immediate reopening of the service, which has been closed for nearly nine months, due to overcrowding and the possibility of spreading the infection.

The Department of Transportation Management of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, in consultation with the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure of the Province Government, said that it should not be opened immediately. According to him, Poush and Magh plan not to open the license for a month. He said, "The decision will be made after looking at the situation."

Spokesperson Dr. Bhusal said that there may be a large crowd of service seekers if it is opened immediately as it has been blocked for a long time. Although the examination and distribution for the new license is done by the state government, the printing and its 'online system' are done by the department. That is why the state government will issue new licenses only in coordination with the department, he said. He said that many service recipients have asked the department to understand when the license will be opened.

The provincial governments are also of the view that immediate attention should be paid to health security rather than hasty opening. He said, "Even though the service recipients are in a hurry, both the federal government and the provincial government have decided not to open it now." The government had decided to impose a ban last April after the Covid-19 infection was spreading in Nepal. The government office, which had been closed for four months, was open only in Ashad. Although the transport office started renewal and distribution in June, they have not taken the exam for the new driver's license.

In the previous year, the service recipients did not get the license for a long time, but this year, the department has printed the remaining old license. The department had printed about eight lakh licenses from mass printers. Earlier, the service recipients did not get the license even after a long time, but now many have not been able to take the exam for the license even though they wanted to. The vehicle training center is imparting training saying that the license will be opened soon.
