Department of Consular Services Notice for Police Clearance Certificate Verification:

As the original copy of the Police Clearance Certificate issued by the Nepal Police is being verified by this department, the following is the verification of the police report from now on as per the policy of the Government of Nepal to make the government service online fast, efficient and customer friendly.

As per the decision dated 2077-02-16 (Honorable Foreign Ministery level), all concerned are requested to:

1. The police report Police Clearance Certificate issued online by Nepal Police can be printed online by the applicant himself and submitted to foreign missions in Kathmandu without the certification of this department.

2. When Nepalis living abroad submit a police report to the concerned body abroad, they should submit a self-printed color copy online and inform the body about the authenticity of the report. However, if a certified copy has to be submitted by the Nepali Mission, the applicant himself/herself can apply for the verification of the color copy of the police report made by him/her through Online to the Nepali Mission in the country where he/she resides. Thus, the police report does not need to be verified by this department before being submitted to the Nepali Mission. In this regard, a circular has been issued to all Nepali missions abroad.

3. If the online printed police report needs to be verified by the Consular Services Department, it can only be verified in the original or color copy of the report if the applicant requests it with reasonable reasons and evidence.

4. As the authenticity of the police report submitted in this way can be understood from online, if found to have submitted false details or reports, strict action will be taken according to the law.
