Delay in Reconstruction of Earthquake-Damaged School Buildings in Dolakha, Nepal
Eight years after the devastating earthquake in Nepal, many school buildings in Dolakha remain unreconstructed. However, with the support of various governments, organizations, and committees, reconstruction work is underway, aiming to provide safe and secure learning environments for the students.
Indian Government Reconstruction:
The Indian government has undertaken the reconstruction of several schools in Dolakha, at a cost of 74 crore 81 lakh 65 thousand rupees. Reconstruction work has begun in ten schools, including Bhim Secondary School Dolakha, Kali Dhunga Secondary School Mirge, and Gupteshwor Secondary School Malu. The project started in Chaitra of the year 2077 and will be completed in the month of Jestha of the year 2078.
Chinese Government Reconstruction:
With an investment of two billion 170 million rupees by the Chinese government, the earthquake-affected Kalinag Secondary School Singti and Sarva Secondary School Jilu are under construction. Jiri Secondary School is also being reconstructed through the Ministry of Education and Science and Technology, under the bilateral agreement between the governments of Nepal and China.
Japanese Fund Reconstruction:
Under the Japanese Fund for Poverty Reduction Support Project, the Hanumanteshwar Secondary School has been completed for 115 million rupees.
Asian Development Bank Reconstruction:
Eleven school buildings are being constructed by the Asian Development Bank, including Pashupati Kanya Secondary School Charikot, Janjyoti Secondary School Leptung, and Devi Secondary School Boch. Janjyoti Secondary School Putlikath, Thampu Secondary School Alampu, Sharda Secondary School Bhaise, Satyashwar Secondary School Pawti, Lapilang Secondary School Lapilang, Chitre Secondary School Laduk, Kalika Secondary School Hawa, and Balodaya Secondary School Kalinchok are under construction.
Non-Governmental Organizations Reconstruction:
Reconstruction of 132 school buildings has been completed with an investment of 963.9 million rupees through non-governmental organizations. Of the 649 school buildings in the earthquake-damaged districts, 600 have been completed, and 23 are under construction.
With the support of various organizations and committees, the reconstruction of earthquake-damaged school buildings in Dolakha is underway. This initiative will provide safe and secure learning environments for the students, ensuring that they have access to quality education.
