Community schools of Lamjung have started opening. The schools in the district have started reopening as soon as the government ended the lockdown. The school has reopened, saying it was affected by the four-month-long lockdown due to coronavirus (COVID 19) infection.
According to Surya Prasad Baral, headmaster of Yashobrahma Secondary School in Bensisahar Municipality-3, Bahunbensi, the school has been operating since 20th July to make it easier for students to study. He said that the school has been reopened with high vigilance keeping in view the problems faced by the students due to the non-reopening of the school for a long time. "It's been a long time coming. The school is closed. When the school did not open, the students panicked while sitting at home. The parents also demanded the reopening of the school, ”he said.“ We consulted with the students, parents, teachers, and the school management committee. We opened the school with high vigilance, adopting a way to avoid corona infection. '
According to him, social distance has been maintained between the students in the school. Arrangements have been made to wash hands with soap and water. Sanitizers are used when entering the classroom, with only two people sitting on a bench. He said that even when they go to the toilet, they are sent one by one. Earlier, students were being taught from 10 am to 4 pm, but now they are being taught only from 10 am to 1:30 pm. They are currently being taught five subjects as per the school schedule and the rest will be taught next week. Only 50 percent of students have come to the school which has 247 students. 20 new recruits have been recruited.
According to school teacher Sirjana Baral, the students have been taught easily. He said that students from 1 to 10 used to come to the school to study and some of them were coming. Classes with fewer students do not have problems and classes with more students are taught with a smaller number of students.
The Bensishahar Municipal Education Committee has instructed to facilitate learning in Toltol or in schools to make it easier for students to study. Parents who had problems taking care of their children when the school was closed are also happy after the school reopened.
According to Khilasharma Dhital, headmaster of Janavikas Secondary School, Chandidanda, Bensishahar Municipality-7, teachers have been coming even though the school is not fully operational. Students are called and given homework and sent home. Since the teacher attends the school on a daily basis, the student's homework is looked after. On the first day, only 30 percent of students attended school on Thursday and were given homework, he said. He said that there is a plan to start the study in the school by implementing the system according to the roll number as there will be a lot of congestion while running the school.
According to Ashok Kumar Ghimire, principal of Janakalyan Secondary School, Chiti Tilahar, Bensishahar Municipality-11, teachers and staff have been present at the school since July 20. Reading has not been done. He said that discussions are underway to run the school. He said that the issue of reopening the school will be discussed at a meeting of the school management committee.
According to Bensishahar Municipality Education Branch Chief Kisan Raj Chiluwal, the school has been requested to facilitate teaching and learning to ease the educational sector affected by the lockdown. He said that the teachers of all the schools within the municipality have been requested to attend the school on July 20 and facilitate learning by maintaining social distance. He said that the school can facilitate teaching and learning through alternative and appropriate methods as per its convenience.
