Class 11 Exam will be Conducted on the Basis of the School Assessment:
Due to the risk of coronavirus (Covid-19), the final examination of class 11 will also be conducted on the basis of the school assessment. Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly on next year's budget, Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel said the ministry would soon take a decision to address the issue based on the school's internal evaluation. He said that the examination will be conducted with high-security precautions after the situation becomes favorable for class 12.
This year, there are 532,692 students in class 11. There are 431,330 students in class 12. Despite the decision to postpone the exam on the 25th of Chaitra, the parents of the students are confused as the government has not decided on the exam even after two months.
He said that the appropriate decision will be taken soon after analyzing the epidemic situation regarding the examinations of different levels of universities and CTEVT. He also said that he would create an environment for studying in the upper semester without taking the final semester exams but without taking the middle exams.
Earlier, the government had decided to conduct the final examination of class 10 (SEE) on the basis of school assessment. According to the decision, the National Examination Board is working to formulate necessary procedures.
Replying to a question raised by the lawmakers, Minister Pokharel said that the ministry has started teaching from alternative methods so as not to damage the academic session. Stating that Corona has brought special opportunities in the field of education, he said that the ministry is planning to review the program in 15 days to make it more effective as there is a risk of being deprived of some of the initial stages of the program.
Stating that initiatives are being taken to take the program forward at the local level, he said that the reading will be taken forward after the situation becomes normal to prevent the academic session from being damaged.
Recalling that the constitution has made education a fundamental right, he said that the role of the private sector for public school reform should not be taken otherwise. He defended the President's educational reform program, citing the past President Chure Conservation Program.
He said that the education budget has been increased despite the reduction in the size of the budget. He said that the lunch program mentioned in the budget would not only prevent malnutrition but also play a role in eliminating the problem of untouchability.
