Butwal City's Measures to Foster Affordable and Quality Education

In a decisive move to bolster the quality of school education, the Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City has mandated all schools within its jurisdiction to resist increasing the admission fee. This order was issued during a discussion held on Tuesday with the chairman of the management committee and the principals of public schools in Butwal.

Making Education Affordable and Flexible

Butwal Sub-Metropolitan Chief, Khelraj Pandey, emphasized improving school education in the community schools. On the topic of secondary level admissions, he appealed to schools to uphold student autonomy by not imposing strict requirements on where uniforms and books can be purchased. He insisted, "Schools should not compel students to buy books, copies and clothes from specific stores".

Pandey also stressed the importance of considering school capacity, physical infrastructure, lab facilities, and staff strength when admitting students. The purpose of these instructions is to ensure that students are not denied their right to education due to excessive admission and tuition fees.

Avoiding Arbitrary Fee Impositions

One significant point raised by Mayor Pandey was the prohibition of fees for entrance examinations for new students. Furthermore, he urged schools not to augment the fees already charged from students, such as admission and tuition fees. He stressed that schools should abide by the criteria they have set for themselves according to their capacity, and not to bar students from studying due to lack of affordability.

Striving for Excellence in Education

Mayor Pandey underscored the pivotal role of public schools in establishing Butwal as a leader in education. He urged the management of schools to set such a standard that other regions could learn and take inspiration from Butwal. He also pledged to update the city's education act to match the evolving times and needs, further uplifting the standard of school education.

Promoting Sports at School Level

Notably, the Butwal sub-metropolitan city is focusing on fostering sporting talent from school levels. With the plan to host a school-level football tournament, Mayor Pandey encouraged schools to prepare their students for the competition.

The Head of Social Development Division, Mitramani Khanal, proposed that all schools should follow uniform rules and methods to enhance school education. He emphasized the need for discipline and strict law enforcement within the educational institutions.

Commitment to Improve School Education

The representatives of the school management committee and the principal assured their commitment to improving the school's educational standards. They opined that the city should invest more in enhancing the quality of school education, which would inevitably benefit the students and the broader community.

Overall, these measures by the Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City are aimed at improving the quality and affordability of school education while setting an example for other regions to emulate. The city's initiatives reiterate the importance of maintaining discipline, fostering affordability, and delivering high-quality education.
