Bird Census Starts in Nepal from 7th January 2023

Bird Census starts in Nepal on January 7. Himalayan Nature, under the leadership of the National Parks Department, has started Census birds in all national parks, wetlands, and reservoirs.
Dr. Hemsagar Baral, the National Coordinator of Bird Census, informed that 350 bird experts and conservationists participated in the census.

According to him, the bird Census will be done in three weeks. He said that even though the Census area is expanding, the number of birds is decreasing every year.

According to him, the number of birds is decreasing every year due to the lack of quality habitat, development, and construction in the habitat area, increasing use of pesticides in agricultural crops, and human activities. Dr. Baral said that like in every area, the effect of climate change has also affected the habitat of birds.

Vasu Bidari, former president of Word Education Society Sauraha, informed that the bird Census will start on 8th January in Chitwan.

Birds will be counted in East Chitwan under the leadership of Word Education Society Sauraha and in West Chitwan under the leadership of Word Education Society Meghauli.

Bird Census will be done from Lothar Bridge to Kasara Bridge under West Sector. Birds will be counted in Dhungri river, Budhirapti river, Lami lake, Tamor lake, Barun lake, Bisahjari lake, and Rhino lake which are the main habitats of birds.

Similarly, birds will be counted through a separate group in the Nawalpur area of Chitwan National Park. According to the latest statistics, there are 892 species of birds in Nepal. In which two hundred birds are dependent on water. There are 652 species of birds in Chitwan alone.
