Bardghat municipality has implemented a local curriculum in community schools. "Our Bardghat" curriculum has been implemented in basic level schools within the municipality.
Mayor Shambhulal Shrestha said that the local curriculum was implemented with the aim of informing the identity of the city from the school level. It is said that Bardghat has become the first municipality to implement the local curriculum in the district which has seven municipalities.
The textbook of the local curriculum named 'Our Bardghat' covers the whole area of Bardghat including tourist places, art, culture, natural heritage, language, lifestyle, grain production, herbs at the local level. The chief administrative officer of the municipality, Krishna Prasad Sapkota, expressed his belief that the local curriculum will help in the educational development and identity of the city.
"We have prioritized the educational sector", Mayor Shrestha said, "Local textbooks of 100 marks have been started as a compulsory subject from class 1 to 8."
According to Mayor Shrestha, since the Local Government Operation Act 2074 provides that the local level can create a local curriculum and implement the textbook, the students are managed to study by publishing the textbook.
Dr. Ghanshyam Neupane, Dr. Shalikram Poudyal, Dr. Premprasad Tiwari, and Sheshkant Poudel are writing and editing the course.
