Barbara Foundation Announces Worth Rs 10 Million Award to Frontline Health Workers

The Barbara Foundation has announced a prize of Rs. 10 million in honor of doctors, nurses, health workers, and ambulance drivers working in government and community hospitals across the country to take the lead against the Covid-19 epidemic.

The amount was provided by Suhrid Ghimire, a member of the foundation and an entrepreneur, said Dr. Sanduk Ruit, chairman of the foundation.

‘The role of health workers is the most important of the various professionals who are constantly working as frontline soldiers. Despite the daily challenges of managing limited resources in various challenging geographies from the remote Himalayan region to the Terai of Nepal, it is not easy to work for the survival of the patient” the statement said.

Suhrid Ghimire, president of Continental Trading Enterprises, an executive member of the foundation, and her daughter Aditi are going to provide the prize money to the health workers through the Barbara Foundation. Ruit informed.

For the selection of personalities to be rewarded from among government, community, or non-profit organizations or health workers working in them, A judging committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Bhagwan Koirala, Chairman of the Nepal Medical Council, and Dr. Lochan Karki, Chairman of the Nepal Medical Association.
