Bank Branches without ATM Regularly Open:
During the lockdown, banks and financial institutions have been regularly operating branches in locations where there is no ATM. Although banks operate branches for 2 hours every day (11 am to 1 pm), it is reported that customers are very few.
Banks have claimed that certain branches are operating in the city market, including at all local levels. Bankers Association president Bhuwan Dahal said that the bank would be open at the rate of two hours daily at all local levels except where local administration has called for closure. "There are very few customers coming to the city," he said, adding, "Customers have come to the rural area branch." Every bank has also provided the name and phone number of the respective branch manager for customer convenience. "Banks have put the official person's phone number visible on the website and in the office," he said.
Dahal said that adequate security measures have been taken as per the directive of the NRB during the operation of the bank. "Banks are providing minimum staffing as per the system," he said. He said customers are encouraged to do business through electronic banking to avoid the potential risk of the corona.
He said that all forms of electronic payment, including free of charge, mobile banking, internet banking, IPS connectivity are free from the withdrawal of money from any bank's ATM.
"There were a lot of crowds at the ATMs in the two days following the lockdown," said Dahal, adding that the business through the ATMs is now low.
