Bagmati Province University Calls for Applications for Dean Position

The Bagmati Province University, operated by the Bagmati Province Government, has called for applications for the position of Dean. The central office of the university has invited applications for the appointment of Dean in either Engineering or Management faculty.

According to Dr. Kusumraj Subedi, Vice-Chancellor of the university, although the university has three faculties, applications have been invited to appoint a Dean for only one faculty - either Engineering or Management for now.

The Bagmati Province University has three faculties: Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Management and Law, and Faculty of Education and Social Sciences.

The university has announced that applications should be submitted with necessary documents to the secretariat of the Province University Board of Trustees in Hetauda. Applications are being sought in accordance with the Province Higher Education Act, 2078 (2021) and Regulations, 2079 (2022) with amendments, the Statute of Province University 2081 (2024), and the Bagmati Province University Dean Recommendation Criteria, 2081 (2024).

Dean candidates must submit an application along with their personal details and a professional work plan for the relevant faculty including the university's concept. Additionally, applicants must not have exceeded the age of 56 years, must have completed at least a second-class Master's degree or equivalent from a recognized university, must have a PhD from a recognized university, must submit original copies of published books and certified copies of published articles in standardized national and international journals (clearly identifying the published journal), and must demonstrate experience in leadership of research projects funded by international and national funds, fund raising, and national-international collaboration.

According to the university, applicants must have work experience and achievements in higher education provider institutions at leadership or management levels, and must have at least five years of teaching experience in institutions under a university.

Applicants must also provide self-declarations stating that they have no investment in private educational institutions that would conflict with the interests of the relevant faculty of the university, have not been convicted of any criminal offense by a court (not disqualified by any law), are not members of any political party and will not be affiliated with any political party while holding the position, and have not obtained a foreign permanent residence permit and are not disqualified by any law.

According to Dr. Subedi, the process for appointing Deans to the remaining faculties will be initiated in the coming fiscal year.
