Bagmati Province University, which is among the prestigious projects of the Bagmati Province Government, has initiated the process to integrate campuses operating within Bagmati Province as constituent campuses.
The university has started the process to enable campuses currently operating within Bagmati Province with affiliation from other universities in Nepal to be integrated and operated as constituent campuses of Bagmati Province University.
The university, with its central office in Hetauda, has mandated that campuses seeking integration must submit an application with a decision from their Campus Operating Committee regarding operating as a constituent campus of the Bagmati Province University and terminating affiliation with their parent university.
Dr. Kusumraj Subedi, Vice-Chancellor of the university, stated that campuses operating within Bagmati Province with affiliation from any university in Nepal can be integrated and operated as constituent campuses of the provincial university. He informed that as per Section 9(3) and (4) of the Bagmati Province Higher Education Act, 2078, Rule 17 of the Provincial Higher Education Regulations, 2079, and Section 36 of the Bagmati Province University Statute, 2081, campuses wishing to operate as constituent campuses must register their application at the Secretariat of the University Guardian Committee in Hetauda within one month.
Vice-Chancellor Subedi explained that interested campuses need to provide a profile detailing their current status, operational programs, corresponding student numbers, faculty and staff details by level (permanent, temporary, and contract), their remuneration details, teaching fee structure, campus financial and physical assets, and financial liabilities. "Campus establishment/affiliation approval letters, approved campus statute, and the audit report from the last fiscal year must be included," he added.
According to him, applications must include a feasibility study report for educational programs that can be and are desired to be operated at the campus.
After receiving applications for constituent campus status, the university will examine them and gradually integrate them as constituent campuses, considering the rationale and feasibility of educational programs that can be operated at the respective campuses, as well as the university's managerial aspects, in accordance with the Bagmati Province Higher Education Act, 2078, Higher Education Regulations, 2079, and the University Statute, 2081.
The university is working to begin teaching from the upcoming Bhadau (August-September). While explaining that curriculum development is underway along with the academic calendar, Vice-Chancellor Subedi said, "We have prioritized skill-based and self-employment-oriented education according to market demands."
Vice-Chancellor Subedi stated that the university is working to begin teaching from the next fiscal year in three faculties: Science and Technology, Management and Law, and Education and Social Development.
