A newly Constructed Statue of Harka Bahadur Gurung Unveiled:
A newly constructed statue of Adikavi Harka Bahadur Gurung of the Tamu language has been unveiled. On the day of the 84th birth anniversary of the late Adikavi Gurung, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Kiran Gurung unveiled it as the chief guest at his village Syangja Phedikhola Rural Municipality Ward No. 1, Ramkot on Sunday.
In a program organized by the Phedikhola Rural Municipality in Ramkot, the late Hark Bahadur Gurung Memorial Foundation, a prolific poet of the Tamu language, paid homage to the late Gurung and said that his contribution should be respected.
He said that it was important to write songs in the Tamu language, preserve the published and unpublished works of late Gurung, the master of singing. Stressing on the need to focus on cultural, linguistic preservation, and development as the diversity in Nepal is recognized, Minister Gurung said that the state government was ready to cooperate with the foundation established in the memory of late Gurung.
Expressing happiness that the Phedikhola Rural Municipality is preparing to include the subject of Adikavi late Gurung in the local textbook, he said that the establishment of the statue of Shrestha will also help in the promotion of tourism. He said that emphasis should be laid on the protection and publication of the works of the Creator as the Creator is the fund of the state.
Tamu Dhin Nepal President Hum Bahadur Tamu said that Tamu Adikavi late Hark Bahadur Gurung was a cultural engineer of education, awareness, national service, and social justice. He said that his creation and awareness campaign was exemplary for all. Fedikhola Village Municipality Chairman Ghanshyam Subedi said that no stinginess was shown to honor the late Hark Bahadur Gurung.
Stating that Phedikhola Rural Municipality was involved in the construction of a park with statues and statues of late Hark Bahadur Gurung, he demanded that the nation declare not only Gurung but also the creator of Fedikhola as an Adikavi. Poems were recited by Bahadur Singh Gurung and Tej Bahadur Chakli while the program was chaired by Arjun Gurung, Chairman of the Foundation, Lala Gurung, Coordinator of the Construction Committee, and Avilas Gurung, Secretary of the Foundation conducted the program. Harka Bahadur Gurung was born in 1993 BS in Phedikhola Salme, Syangja, and died in 2067 BS. He has made significant contributions in the field of Gurung language, literature, and culture.
He has published a book titled 'Gurung Folk Song' in 2016 BS which includes three dozen Gurung songs. He composed the popular song 'Kyude Thulen, Dukh Mhan' in 2011 BS. The song highlights the problem created by the compulsory marriage of uncles and aunts in the Gurung caste. Her song collection 'Kyude Thulen' has been published. Adikavi Gurung, who recorded Sunimaya, Thadovaka, and Yanimaya on Radio Nepal in 2017 BS, sang songs of awakening and consciousness in the Tamu language in Bastibasti. He was honored as Gurung Adikavi by Tamu Cultural Foundation in 2058 BS.
He was also active in the field of songwriting and singing. Her vagina was sweet. Because of her excellent singing skills, people used to listen to her songs even after leaving work. A documentary on his biography has also been made. Author Lala Gurung says that his songs and works have been researched and written. Currently, the Fedikhola village municipality is going to include the biography of late Gurung in the process of making local textbooks. Chairman of the Fedikhola Village Municipality Ghanshyam Subedi expressed the view that the municipality would spare no effort to honor Hark Bahadur Gurung as he is a poet and cultural activist not only of Gurung language but of the entire caste and language.
