47th Convocation of Tribhuvan University

The 47th Convocation of Tribhuvan University has been concluded under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and Chancellor Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Out of 29,729 people who were included in the 59th Grace List by taking transcripts from 2077 Ashad 1 to 2078 Jeshta 32 after conducting research in Tribhuvan University; Prof. V. Ram Gopal Rao, Director, Indian Institute of Technology was the Chief Guest at the function which was attended by the students who have passed the doctorate and MPhil.

Addressing the convocation ceremony, Prime Minister and Chancellor Sher Bahadur Deuba expressed the view that the education of the university should be not only formal and theoretical but also practical, useful and conducive to the transformation of social development.

He urged the university to focus on producing creative, innovative and age-appropriate scientific and technical manpower to make the democratic system of the country strong and robust and to transform the country's economy rapidly.

Trivi, who has been making significant contribution to the educational upliftment of Nepal, also suggested strengthening the quality of education and institutional strengthening in the future.

The Chief Guest of the Convocation Ceremony was Prof. V. Ram Gopal Rao, Director, Indian Institute of Technology.

Noting that unimaginable achievements have been achieved in the world through perseverance and hard work, he urged them to move forward as a manpower that produces opportunities and not jobs.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology and Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Devendra Poudel said that higher education has an important role in the economic and social development of the country.

He also drew the attention of Tribhuvan University to the need to link research activities with economic / social development and to reduce unemployment and poverty by producing manpower accordingly by giving high priority to science and technology.

Stating that he is a student of TRIBI, Poudel said that he was aware of the problems faced by the university in recent times and expressed his commitment to make positive efforts to solve the problems.

Welcoming the 47th Convocation Ceremony, Prof. Dr. Dharmakanta Baskota, Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, said that in the glorious history of 62 years, spreading the light of higher education to the people in accessible and remote places of Nepal. He said that the ruling and opposition parties have succeeded in producing capable citizens serving and working in various fields of society including politicians, judges, heads of constitutional bodies, legislators, civil servants, planners, university vice chancellors, academics, technicians, security personnel, artists and media personnel.
