The 19th Asian Games (Asiad) scheduled for September 10, 2022, to September 26, 2022, in Hangzhou has been postponed due to the increasing corona infection rate in China. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) on Friday postponed the Asian Games.
The council said the Asiad had been postponed immediately after discussions with the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee. According to OCA, Asiad will now be held in 2023. The Olympic Council has stated that the new date will be announced later.
Nepal had recently decided to participate in 23 games at the Asiad. Accordingly, a selection competition is being organized to select the players of the respective sports. Players of most of the games have even been selected.
At the Asiad, Nepal will host Taekwondo, Karate, Boxing, Athletics, Cycling, Women's Football, Golf, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Judo, Swimming, Triathlon, Wushu, Archery, Basketball, Women's Kabaddi, Fencing, Women's Handball, Women's Volleyball, Men's Cricket, Shooting, Badminton. And was preparing to participate in table tennis.
