The first phase of the 12th National Census is starting on Wednesday. For that, the Central Statistics Department has deployed 8,500 supervisors. The listing will also include the number of female, male and sexual, and gender minorities who often reside in the household.
"There will be the simultaneous listing of houses and households in 77 districts," said Dhundi Raj Lamichhane, director of the department. "Supervisors will fill in the details of each household."
The type of individual house, number of houses, floor, and house purpose will be disclosed and the number of animals and birds kept by each household will also be recorded. Similarly, details of government-funded houses, community buildings, their purposes, government office buildings, vocational and technical education training, temples, financial institutions, industries, factories will also be taken.
The listing will be completed within Ashoj 18, the department said. According to the schedule, the original census will be held from Kartik 25 to Mansir 9. At that time, 39,000 enumerators (Ganak) will ask the basic questionnaire in each household and the supervisor will go to each ward office and fill the community questionnaire.
