Overview
TU Teaching Hospital was established in 1983 AD with the bighearted support of the Japanese Government. It was graciously inaugurated in February 1986 by Lake King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) is an integral part of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of Tribhuvan University (TU). It performs two distinct functions such as a teaching hospital and provides a practical-field for the basic, graduate and postgraduate level academic training programs of the Institute. TUTH is a national hospital, provides medical care and services. In addition, it operates medical research projects and provides a major impulsion to Biomedical and Health Sciences Research (BHSR) in Nepal. The foundation of the Teaching Hospital was a milestone in the development of medical education in Nepal.
TUTH has 22 departments and provides services from basic medical and surgical problems to open heart surgery (OHS) and kidney transplant (KT).
