Overview
Tribhuvan University Service Commission (TUSC) is an independent authority responsible for managing the recruitment and promotion of academic and administrative staff within Tribhuvan University. It ensures transparency and meritocracy in these processes. The TUSC is constituted according to the Tribhuvan University Act, 2049 (1992), chapter 6, authorized on 2049 Poush 22 BS (January 6, 1993 AD).
Tribhuvan University (TU) is Nepal's largest and oldest university, occupying a significant position in the country's educational system. Since its establishment in 2016 BS in honor of King Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah, Tribhuvan University has been a key player in delivering high-quality education to prepare necessary human resources for the country and world, research, and advancing Nepal's socioeconomic development. There is a provision for an independent organization called the Tribhuvan University Service Commission to recruit and advance human resources. There is a provision for an independent body known as the Tribhuvan University Service Commission.
TU Service Commission is an impartial and independent Service Commission consisting of the following members to make recommendations for the appointment and recommendation of the Teachers and employees of the University:
(a) Person appointed by the Chancellor – Chairperson
(b) Member, Public Service Commission -Member
(c) One from amongst Professors -Member
(2) The Chancellor shall form a committee under the chairpersonship of the Pro-chancellor and consisting of two members of the Assembly as its members make recommendations for the appointment of the chairperson and member under Clauses (a) and (c) of Sub-section (1); and the Chancellor shall appoint the chairperson and member on the recommendation of that committee.
(3) The term of office of the chairperson and the nominated member of the Service Commission shall be three years.
(4) The Service Commission's functions, duties, powers, and Rules of procedures shall be as prescribed.
(5) The Service Commission shall consider academic competency and experience the main grounds for making appointments and promoting teachers and administrative efficiency, as well as experience the main grounds for making appointments and promoting employees.
(6) The functions, duties, powers and remuneration, facilities, and other terms of service of the chairperson and the members of the Service Commission shall be as prescribed.
