Overview
Sharada Municipality, Salyan (शारदा नगरपालिका, सल्यान) was established in 2014 (2071 BS) as a local government of Nepal. The headquarters of the Sharada Nagarpalika is located in Khalanga, Salyan district, Karnali Province of Nepal. Sharada is a municipality and also known as Nagarpalika in the Nepali Language.
Sharda Municipality is situated in the hilly area of Sharada river on the world map, spreading from 82002'40" to 82016'36" to eastern latitude and from 28018'51 to 280a27'44" north latitude. Sharda River is considered not only the Sharda Municipality but also the main river of Salyan district. This river is considered to be financially and touristy important. In this regard, there are 63 educational institutes operating in the municipal community and institutional. In this municipal area, family income is the largest part of the agricultural business and in other sources of income from local residents; business, animal husbandry, small industry, service, and job are employed.
Local manpower labor and the order for foreign employment is increasing. There are educational institutions that provide basic education to higher education in the municipalities. Local students of this municipality have come to other neighboring districts for technical education and higher level studies. Although most households are electrified, citizens in some marginalized sections are not reaching access to electrical consumption. Various communities, ethnic populations, are celebrated in different festivals such as New Year, Saune Sankranti, Krishna Janmashtami, Teej, Dashai, Tihar, Mage Sakranti, Chaite Dashai etc.
Sharada Municipality is surrounded by Chatreshwari Rural Municipality And Bagchaur Municipality on the East, Bangad Kupinde Municipality on the West, Dhorchaur Rural Municipality on the North and Chatreshwari Rural Municipality and Kalimati Rural Municipality on the South.
The total area of the Sharada Municipality is 612.0 km2 (236.3 sq mi) and the total population of the municipality is according to 2011 (2068 BS) Nepal census is 33,730 (Males constitute 46.43 percent of the population -15,661 and females 53.57 percent -18,069) individual. The density of this rural municipality is 55.3/km2 (143.2/sq mi). This urban municipality is divided into 15 wards.
Dandagaun, Hiwalcha, Kajeri, Khalanga, Marke, Saijuwal Takura and Syanikhal committees (VDCs) were incorporated to form Shaarada Nagarpalika. This Municipality came into existence on May 18, 2014.
