Overview
Lomanthang Rural Municipality (लोमान्थाङ गाउँपालिका) was established in 2017 as a local government of Nepal. It is situated in Lomanthang, Mustang District, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Lomanthang Gaunpalika is located at the northern end of the district, sandwiched between Tibet Autonomous Region of China in north and Dalome Gaunpalika of Mustang District in the south.
The total area of this Lomanthang rural municipality is 727 square kilometers (281 sq mi) and the total population of this rural municipality according to 2011 (2068 BS) Nepal census is 1899. This rural municipality is divided into 5 wards.
Previously Lomanthang was a Village development committee (VDC) which incorporated into a rural municipality merging adjoining two Village development committees (VDC) i.e. Chhoser and Chhonhup. This rural municipality came into existence on 10 March 2017 (2073 BS), fulfilling the requirement of the new Constitution of Nepal 2015 (2072 BS), Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAG of Nepal) replaced all old VDCs and Municipalities into 753 new local level bodies.
