Overview
Himalayan Bank Limited (HBL) (Nepal: हिमालयन बैंक लिमिटेड) was established in 1993 AD as an ‘A’ Class Commercial Bank in Nepal licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank. HBL was founded by renowned individuals of Nepal in partnership with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Habib Bank Limited, Pakistan. HBL is also the first commercial bank with most of its shares held by the private sector in Nepal. In addition to commercial banking services, the bank also offers agricultural, industrial and merchant banking service. The head office of Himalayan Bank is located at Kamaladi, Kathmandu.
HBL has ABBS, Internet Banking, SMS Banking, Millionaire Deposit Scheme, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Loan, Pre-paid Visa Card, Consumer Finance through Credit Card, International Travel Quota Credit Card, online (TOEFL, SAT, IELTS, etc.) fee payment banking products and services. HBL also has developed exclusive and proprietary online-money transfer software- HimalRemitTM. HBL is the largest inward remittance handling Bank in Nepal.
