Overview
Gorkha Municipality (गोरखा नगरपालिका) was established in 1996 as a local government of Nepal. The headquarters of this Nagarpalika is located in Dumridanda, Gorkha district, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Gorkha is an urban municipality and also known as Nagarpalika in the Nepali Language.
Gorkha Municipality is surrounded by Saheed Lakhan Rural Municipality and Bhimsen Rural Municipality on the East, Palungtar Municipality on the West, Siranchok Rural Municipality on the North and Saheed Lakhan and Tanahun District on the South.
The total area of this Municipality is 131.86 km2 and the total population of the municipality is according to 2011 (2068 BS) Nepal census is 49,272 individual living in 13,127 individual households. The density of this municipality is 420/km2. This municipality is divided into 14 wards. The elevation of this municipality is 328 to 1522 meters altitude from sea level.
Finam, Nareshwor, Taple and Deurali Village Development committees (VDCs) were incorporated to form Gorkha Municipality. This urban Municipality came into existence in 1996 (2053 BS).
