Overview
Galkot Municipality (गल्कोट नगरपालिका, बाग्लुङ) was established in 2017 (Falgun 27, 2073 BS) as a local government of Nepal. The headquarters of the Galkot Nagarpalika is located in Harichaur, Baglung, Gandaki Pradesh of Nepal. Dhorpatan is an urban municipality and also known as Nagarpalika in the Nepali Language. Galkot is an important area of natural and tourism approach.
Galkot Municipality is surrounded by Kathekhola Rural Municipality on the East, Badigad Rural Municipality on the West, Tarakhola Rural Municipality on the North and Bareng Rural Municipality and Gulmi district on the South.
The total area of the Galkot Municipality is 194.39 km2 (75.1 sq mi) and the total population of the municipality is according to 2011 (2068 BS) Nepal census is 33,097 individual. The density of this rural municipality is 170.30/km2 (441/sq mi). This rural municipality is divided into 11 wards. The elevation of this rural municipality is 1020 meters (3350 feet) altitude from sea level.
Dudila Bhati, Narethanti, Hatiya, Harichaur, Malma, Kandebas, Pandavkhani, Ghiya Village Development committees (VDCs) were incorporated to form Galkot Municipality. This urban Municipality came into existence on 10 March 2017.
