Barekot Rural Municipality, Jajarkot (बारेकोट गाउँपालिका, जाजरकोट) was established in 2017 (Falgun 27, 2073 BS) as a local government of Nepal. The headquarters of the Barekot Gaunpalika is located in Nayakwada, Jajarkot district, Karnali Province of Nepal. Barekot is a rural municipality and also known as Gaunpalika in the Nepali Language. Barekot Rural is surrounded by Nalgad Municipality and Dolpa district on the East, Kuse Rural Municipality on the West, Jumla district on the North and Nalgad Municipality on the South.

The total area of the Barekot Rural Municipality is 577.5 km2 (223.0 sq mi) and the total population of the municipality is according to 2011 (2068 BS) Nepal census is 18,083 individual. The density of this rural municipality is 31/km2 (81/sq mi). This rural municipality is divided into 9 wards. The elevation of this rural municipality is 1538 meters (5045.93 feet).

Daha, Majhkot, Garkhakot, and Kortrang Ramidanda, Rokayagaun, Nayakwada and Sakala committees (VDCs) were incorporated to form Barekot Gaupalika. This rural Municipality came into existence on 10 March 2017.
