Overview
Baglung Municipality (बाग्लुङ नगरपालिका) was established in 1997 (Magh 18, 2053 BS) as a local government of Nepal. The headquarters of the Baglung Nagarpalika is located in Baglung, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Baglung is an urban municipality and also known as Nagarpalika in the Nepali Language.
The total area of the Baglung Municipality is 98.01 km2 (37.84 sq mi) and the total population of the municipality is according to 2011 (2068 BS) Nepal census is 57,823 individual. The density of this rural municipality is 590/km2 (1500/sq mi). This rural municipality is divided into 14 wards. The elevation of this rural municipality is 1020 meters (3350 feet) altitude from sea level.
It is a multicultural and multiracial community. The majority of the population belongs to ethnic communities of Brahmin, Chhantyal, Magar, Chhettri, and Dalits. Smaller groups of Gurung, Thakali and Newar, also live in the area. Hinduism Buddhism and Islam religions practiced in the area. There is also living a small group of Tibetan refugee camp located at Dhorpatan area. The average literacy rate of this municipality is 85%.
