Overview

Association of Medical Doctors of Asia-Nepal (AMDA-Nepal) was established in 1989 as a chapter of AMDA-International, Japan and was officially registered in the government office as an NGO in 1990. It is a humanitarian, non-profit-making, non-political, non-sectarian, Non-Governmental Organization working with its mission to promote the health and well-being of the underprivileged and marginalized people under the slogan “Better quality of life for better future”.

The powerful principles that bind the medical doctors and other professionals together within AMDA Nepal are friendship, brotherhood, commitment, and zeal for the excellence of service they provide. AMDA Nepal has 33 members committed medical doctor in Nepal. It is Guided by this central thrust the specific objectives of AMDA-Nepal are as follows:

  • Initiate promote and strengthen the country's health services through national and international cooperation with the principles of political non-alignment, equality, and non-discrimination.
  • Facilitate medical doctors to enrich their professional expertise through mutual exchange of experience, research findings and standardization of services among themselves;
  • To Establish coordination and functional relationship with relevant national and agencies, governments or international organizations in carrying out its mission;
  • Accord priority to serve the communities that are needier or are in immediate distress:

AMDA Nepal provides a good working environment for its staffs and excellent learning opportunities for the medical interns. AMDA Nepal runs Three hospitals, academic program for health-related courses, health, and nutrition service to Bhutanese refugees, AMDA Saath Saath Project, AMDA MCH Project and other few communities based Primary Health Centers (PHC) and programs in partnership with various agencies. AMDA has planned to extend its services in the mid/far west region of Nepal.

AMDA Nepal is managed by its own financial regulation, personnel regulations, and guidelines. The general assembly of AMDA Nepal held twice in a year. The executive committee of Nine members for the tenure of Two year decides and executes the policy matter of the organization.
