Overview
Agricultural Development Bank Limited -ADBL (Nepali: कृषि विकास बैंक) was established in 1968 as an autonomous organization largely owned by the Government of Nepal (GoN). ADBL has been working as a leading rural credit institution since the last 3 decades, contributing a more than sixty-seven percent of institutional credit supply in Nepal. As a result, rural finance is the principal operational area of ADBL. In addition, it has also been executing the Small Farmer Development Program, the major poverty alleviation program initiated in the country. Additionally, the ADBL has also been involved in commercial banking operations since 1984.
ADBL has been incorporated as a public limited company on July 14, 2005. Thus, ADBL operates as an "A" category financial Institution under the legal framework of the Bank and Financial Institution Act (BAFIA) and the Company Act, 2053.
