The National Examination Board (NEB) has sought permission from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to conduct the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) through alternative methods.

Chairman of the Board Prof Dr. Chandra Mani Poudel said that permission was sought to conduct the examination by an alternative method as the pre-scheduled examination for Jestha 13 could not be held due to the Corona epidemic. "Permission has been sought on the basis of the report of the suggestion committee," he said.

The NEB had formed a committee headed by Vaikuntha Aryal, Director General of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development, to suggest the conduct of SEE and Class 12 examinations. The committee had suggested various options for conducting both SEE and Class 12 examinations.

The NEB meeting held on Sunday requested that the report of the committee be sent to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry select the appropriate method and take it to the Council of Ministers. "It simply came to our notice then. Various methods are suggested in the report. The same report has been sent to the Ministry. Now the Ministry of Education will select the appropriate method and send it to the Council of Ministers. Only then will the examination method be made public.

Permission has now been sought for the SEE. It has been decided to wait for some time for class 12 and seek permission if needed.

The printing of SEE question papers had already been completed so that the examination would start from the 13th of Jestha. But 517,000 students are under stress after the exams were postponed due to the epidemic. Similarly, about 4 lakh students in 12 are preparing for the exam.
