World Radio Day 2021 Celebrating in Nepal:
Today is World Radio Day. It is being celebrated with various programs. At the proposal of Spain, the 36th Conference of UNESCO declared November 3, 2011, as the 13th of February of each year as Radio Day. Since then, World Radio Day has been observed since 2012 at the call of the United Nations.
Although technology has made great strides, radio is still considered a dynamic medium around the world. Even after almost seven decades of radio establishment, its popularity and need in Nepal have not diminished.
In most parts of Nepal, the number of people who receive information and entertainment by listening to the radio is still significantly higher than other media.
According to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, 740 radios are currently operating and around 450 are in regular broadcasting.
In Nepal, the radio started broadcasting in Kathmandu in 2003 BS, but the radio has officially started operating in the name of Prajatantra Radio on 28th Mangsir 2007 BS. FM radios have been broadcasting from the private sector since 2052 BS.
